Adam Dant
Free Snacks 2004
Ink on paper
43 x 35 cm

Price: £1,700 framed

One of a series of six sepia ink drawings capturing the "most curious sites" that Adam Dant encountered during his three week stay at the British School in Rome in 2004. Dant was inspired by Goya's sketchbook albums created over thirty years from 1796. Within them Goya observed the attitudes and occupations of everyday people around Spain. As with Goya's revolutionary depiction of humanity, Dant's drawings reveal a vast and fascinated imagination seized by the charm of day-to-day life.

Adam Dant was born 1967 in Cambridge and lives and works in London. Recent solo exhibitions include New Art Gallery, Walsall and the Neuberger Museum of Art, NYC (2010), Museum Im Bellpark, Kriens, Switzerland (2009)
